Privacy policy

This policy explains what personal information Satie Studio collects, why we collect it, and what you can ask us to do with it. It is written to meet the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 (POPIA).

Who is responsible

The responsible party is Spare Key Group (Pty) Ltd, registration number 2026/522486/07, trading as Satie Studio, of 5 Pinelaw Road, Diep River, Cape Town, 7800. We are reachable at hello@satie.co.za.

What we collect

  • When you order: your name, delivery address, email address, phone number, and order history.
  • When you pay: payment is processed by our payment provider. We receive confirmation and the last four digits of your card. We never see or store your full card number.
  • When you subscribe: your email address.
  • When you browse: device type, browser, pages viewed and referring site, collected through cookies and similar technologies.

Why we collect it

To process and deliver your order, to handle returns and support requests, to send you the emails you have asked for, to prevent fraud, to meet our tax and record-keeping obligations, and to understand how the store is used so we can improve it.

Who we share it with

  • Shopify, which hosts this store and processes orders on our behalf.
  • Our courier, Aramex, which needs your name, address and phone number to deliver your parcel.
  • Our payment provider, Yoco.
  • Law enforcement or regulators, where we are legally required to.

We do not sell your personal information. Some of these providers process data outside South Africa; where they do, we rely on their contractual safeguards as permitted by section 72 of POPIA.

How long we keep it

Order records are kept for 5 years to meet South African tax and company law requirements. Marketing contacts are kept until you unsubscribe. 

Your rights

Under POPIA you may ask us to confirm what personal information we hold about you, to correct or delete it, or to stop using it for direct marketing. Email hello@satie.co.za and we will respond within 30 days.

Cookies

We use cookies that are necessary for the cart and checkout to work, and analytics cookies that help us understand how the store is used. You can block cookies in your browser, but the cart will not work correctly without the necessary ones.

Marketing

We only send marketing email to people who have asked for it. Every email has an unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing takes effect immediately.
